Timothy Harsh

Timothy Harsh, the son of Richard D. and Linda (Dawson) Harsh, was born June 13, 1974, in Iowa City, Iowa. He grew up in Newton, where he lived for most of his life. 

    Tim had the biggest heart and his true calling in life was caring for others. He worked as a nurses’ aide for most of his life. He brightened the halls of every nursing home he worked at and made sure every person’s life he touched there was made better from being in his care. Then after he was no longer able to work at an “official” job, he still made it his mission to continue to look after his friends and family, even when he himself was tired or sick. It came as natural to him as breathing.

   Tim loved to cook. He constantly had a crockpot of food simmering away or the oven would be filled with some concoction…and always enough to feed an army!

   He liked to go fishing, even when nothing was biting, and he enjoyed sitting down with a good book. His greatest joy was spending time with his friends and family, and he seldom met an animal that didn’t take to him immediately. 

   Those left to honor Tim’s memory include his daughters: Kylie (Tiffany) McVay and Kenzie McVay; siblings: Richie S. Harsh (Jessica Audas) of Nevada, Melissa Bishop (James Petted) of Newton, and Tonya Harsh (Mark Wilson) of Sheldon; his close friend, Tammy McVay; and his nieces and nephews: Devin Harsh, Logan Owens, Kelsie Sites, Alen Sites, and Amanda Sites. Tim joined his parents and many other family members in Heaven on Tuesday, October 8.
