Vickie Lee (Bucklin) Lane

Vickie Lee Lane, 70, of Newton died on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center.  A visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2023, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.   Memorials in Vickie’s name may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory (checks made payable to Kelly Revell).

Vickie, the daughter of Russell and Jane (Bowers) Bucklin, was born on November 2, 1952 in Newton.  She grew up in Baxter, the youngest of four daughters. Vickie was a tomboy and even played little league baseball on her dad’s team. She later moved to Newton.  Vickie worked as a nurse’s aide at the Jasper County Care Facility for many years, and later worked for the State of Iowa.  She was the past President of AFSCME and a member of Women on Wheels. In the early 1990’s, Vickie competed as a body builder. She enjoyed riding motorcycle, photography, and owning nice cars.

Vickie is survived by her daughters, Kelly (Jake) and Shannon (Larry); grandchildren, Derek (Summer), Joshua (Michelle), Jordyn (Brenda), Tyler, Jaysa, and Darren (LeeAnne); her great-grandchildren, Emma, Liliana, Sarahy, Ruby, Kimberlee, and Waylon; siblings, Shirley (Bruce) Nuzum and Linda (Charles) Oliver; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara Clarahan; a great-grandson, Camden; and niece, Heather Nuzum.
