Vinetta Fisher, 88, of Newton died on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 2, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials in Vinetta’s name (checks to David Hannagan) may be left at the funeral home.
Vinetta, the daughter of Robert E. and Elvia V. (Sumler) Hargan, was born on August 29, 1934 in Volonia, Arkansas. She grew up in Arkansas until later moving to Iowa. Vinetta was united in marriage with Walter Hannagan and they were blessed with four children. She later married William L. Fisher on July 6, 1992 in Newton. Vinetta worked in housekeeping at Embassy Manor and Skiff Medical Center. She enjoyed going for walks, having coffeetime every afternoon, camping at Lake Red Rock, and going shopping in Des Moines. Vinetta also loved spending time with her family and eating snickers.
Vinetta is survived by her children, Barbara Ardoin of Corpus Christi, Texas, Jerry (Sandy) Hannagan of Newton, David (Gayla) Hannagan of Newton, and Wanda Hannagan (Dean Miller) of Newton; grandchildren, Robby Jones, Joshua (Shannon) Hannagan, Jerry Hannagan, Jr. (Heather Hudnutt), Heather (Ben) Adams, Holly (Nathaniel) Dale, Travis Callison, and Troy (Beth) Callison; and her many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Fisher; brother, Robert “RE” Hargan, Jr.; and son-in-law, Charles Ardoin.
