We are very sorry for your loss. It is a big loss for Newton and the athletic teams, Tim did such a great job with the boys over the years. He had a special gift of relating to the players and keeping them encouraged during tough times. He spent so much time helping them improve as people as well as athletes. Whatever grade level he was needed at the most in a given year, he stepped in and helped. We appreciate all his time and work with the boys.

My deepest and sincere condolences to Trier family. Knew Tim best back in 80's and admired his great passion for dirt racing. I am sure he will be greatly missed. Didn't know about his other interests, but doesn't surprise me that he was dedicated to where God lead him. One has to believe that all the children he helped are better for the experience of knowing him.

The greatest gift a teacher or coach can possess is the ability to connect with kids. Tim had this gift. I was lucky enough to get to know him when I was a kid. Tim and my dad worked together and at local car dealership and I always enjoyed riding my bike there to talk to Tim. He always made you feel good about yourself. It did not surprise me he touched many lives later as a coach and counselor. It was a perfect fit for Tim and the athletes and students in our school district. Tim also had an amazing ability to engage an audience as an announcer at sporting events. I loved listening to him announce the races at Knoxville Raceway with Jack Herwehe. They were the best. Tim will be greatly missed as the voice of the Cardinals on Friday nights at H.A. Lynn Stadium as well. Rest in peace my friend. You will be remembered and missed by many. Ed Ergenbright

Dear Gerry, Mick, and Family,
We are so saddened to hear of Tim's passing. He was so brave and full of life as he fought his cancer. As one of his babysitters when you first moved to Prairie City, I am especially saddened to lose one of "my kids". I have many happy memories of the times I spent with both boys. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. May the knowledge that Tim is in a better place and no longer suffering bring you comfort, and may God grant you peace.
In Christian love,
Carol, Ida Mae, and Kaye

I am one of the many "kids" Tim helped. He was the spark that lit my passion for announcing that has now led to over 35 years in broadcasting. (Later fueled by brother, Mick). He gave me the opportunity to announce Prairie City Lions games, and Prairie City Old Settlers Reunions before I could drive. He took me to Eddyville Races, the Knoxville Races and the State Fair. We raced go carts, dabbled in CB radios and worked on the El Camino in the garage just off the square in Prairie City. I could never thank Tim enough for the opportunities he gave me.
