I am sorry for your loss. Your Dad was a wonderful man with a big heart. The men at LZ Sherry both respected and admired him. I am very happy that Top and I had a chance to visit on the telephone before I left for Asia but I am sad that I was not here when he died. I will miss him but know he is settled in at Fiddlers Green having a cold one with the boys of B battery and 1st Sgt. was a tremendous leader of young men. RIP my friend.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the whole Durant family. Sergeant Durant was my ROTC instructor all through high school until I graduated in 88. He was my mentor and always tried to get me not to go into the Marines. We still stayed in contact he even drove out to see me to go camping and fishing with me in Las Vegas.. I will sure miss the long talks we had on the phone. 8 years ago I drove to Missouri to see him sure enough he gave me an old pop up tent trailer that had that have about 3 million ladybugs in it to drive back to Vegas and refurbish.. I still use that camper to this date and I will think about him this winter when I use it again. I will miss my teacher my mentor and my fellow soldier. RIP SGT DURANT..

Richard is no longer in pain. That being said I will miss my teacher, mentor, and friend terribly. From our outings for beer and Mexican to his calls of concern and friendship. I never thought we would bond as we did and stay in each other's life's for over 30 years. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. He always said "love you kid", ...love you as well Sir.
