Thomas “Tom” Leo Jackson, 59, of Reasnor, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at VA Central Iowa Healthcare System in Des Moines.  A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Monday, October 10, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in Tom’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Tom, the son of Glenn A. and Maxine (Udelhoven) Jackson, was born on November 20, 1956 in Fort Carson, Colorado.  He moved to Newton as a young boy and graduated from Newton High School in 1975. Tom served his country in the U.S. Marines and also took college classes at multiple colleges around Iowa.

Tom was united in marriage with Laurel White on August 30, 1986 in Reno, Nevada. He worked was a self-employed long distance mover for over 30 years.  Tom was a member of the Solon American Legion Stinocher Post 460.  He adored his family and enjoyed being a lively contributor to the culture of the moving business, spending time with his “outlaws” on stops along the way.   Tom was also an outstanding cook and a talented blackjack player.  He also loved his time spent fishing in Canada.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Laurel White-Jackson of Reasnor; daughter, Paloma Jackson of Reasnor; mother, Maxine Udelhoven of Newton; siblings, Carol Twedt and Mark Jackson; and half-siblings, Glenda Jackson and Valerie McArthur.  He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn A. Jackson; step-father, Ed Frahm; half-brother, Glenn Jackson III; maternal grandparents, Leo and Alice Udelhoven; his parents-in-law who loved him like their own, Arthur and Dora White; and man’s best friend, Sandy, the Muttzenheimer.
